Genius + Soul = Jazz. Remember the Voyager 2 satellite that they sent into outer space with recordings of Bach and da Vinci drawings representing the best human endeavors? They really should have included some Ray Charles. It's not widely known that Ray's early bands played straight ahead jazz. Ray was also an accomplished alto saxophonist influenced by Earl Bostic and Charlie Parker.
